Oral Health Promotion
The Community Dental Services Oral Health Promotion Team has been commissioned by Leicestershire County Council to promote key messages and practices. This will include information and support for children and more vulnerable adults, the delivery of training, national and local campaigns, tooth brushing programmes and providing a resource centre of teaching aids and promotional material.
We have an extensive and popular resource library based in Blaby. Anyone working in Leicestershire in a 'health promoting' role can borrow our resources free of charge for a period of two weeks. In the past these have been used as an educational resource by children's centres, schools, pre-schools, childcare settings, health professionals, parents and carers.
Our popular resources include:
- Dental surgery role play (wooden chair, background, mouth model, demonstration toothbrush and two minute timer).
- Sugar in drinks activity kit
- Oral Health activity kit
- Teaching models
- Books
- Games and Puzzles
Our resources catalogue together with our terms and conditions is attached. Booking is essential and, to avoid disappointment, we recommend booking well in advance. For further information or to make a booking, please contact 0116 243 6460 or email OHP.Leicestershire@cds-cic.nhs.uk
We also have various free factsheets that can be downloaded and cover a range of oral health topics, such as tips for taking care of children's teeth, dental erosion and fluoride varnish. These can be found on our website http://communitydentalservices.co.uk/in the Public Health section under the NHS Services tab.
