In 2012 the number of excess winter deaths in the district was significantly higher than the England average. In response to this, the Blaby District Staying Healthy Forum delivered an awareness campaign to help protect people from health problems during the winter months. This included producing a booklet called 'Keeping Well this Winter'. Now in its second year, the booklet contains information on getting your free flu vaccination, how to prepare your home for winter and stay warm, as well as health and other support services in the district.
