Dementia Awareness Week 15-21 May
Posted: Fri, 13 May 2016 14:32
The aim of the year's DAW is to show people who are worried about dementia that they can do something about their worry by coming to us for information and support. The Alzheimer's Society are having a pop up shop at Highcross during all of next week.
Theme: confronting dementia.
What do you want to say to dementia?
We want people to confront their worries by addressing dementia directly. By treating dementia as something separate to them, we hope people will feel more empowered to express their fears and do something about it.
Dementia can be a scary but you don't have to cope alone.

In Blaby District we also have a local dementia action alliance which aim is to help build dementia friendly communities and increase the number of dementia friends in our area. Anyone with an interest and commitment to improving the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers can join Blaby District Dementia Action Alliance. We welcome new members from local businesses, public sector bodies and the voluntary and community sector. Making just a few simple changes in your business or organisation can make a big difference to someone with dementia.
